Millions of Americans suffer from substance use disorders, which include underage drinking, alcohol dependency, non-medical use of prescription drugs, abuse of over-the-counter medications, and illicit drug use. Emergence Health Network (EHN) encourages individuals in need of treatment and recovery services to seek help.
Through the EHN Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Treatment Programs clients (adults and youth) receive treatment based on their individual needs. Treatment is provided in a confidential environment by a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor and can involve supported employment and help from Peer Support Specialists who have lived experience with mental illness and/or substance use disorders. Assistance through EHN’s Partial Hospitalization Program and Intensive Outpatient Programs are also available for individuals with mental illness and/or chemical dependency issues. Through EHN’s Outreach, Screening, Assessment and Referral (OSAR) program Texas residents can receive free screenings and community referrals for assistance with their substance use disorder. EHN also offers a Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) Program at its Westside Integrated Primary Medical Care Clinic which is the use of medications combined with counseling and behavioral strategies to help treat individuals with substance use disorders. Research has shown with this combination the success rate increases when treating substance use disorders by helping those sustain recovery. Our MAT program’s Medical Director, Dr. Wayne Thornburg, specializes in Addiction Medicine and Family Medicine. Help is available and recovery is possible.
